  • In Memory of Gretchen, The Pacific Crest Trail.

In Memory of Gretchen, The Pacific Crest Trail.

On August 20 Susan Muck and companions Penny Palmer and Shelley Johns began a trek of their lifetimes as they walked half of the 460 miles of the Oregon section of the Pacific Crest Trail. Their 220-mile journey took in high desert, Crater Lake National Park, volcanic landscapes and the beautiful forests and lakes of the Sky Lakes Wilderness area. But they didn't do it for themselves.

They walked to remember Susan’s mother Gretchen Daigle, who passed away in 2014 after a brave battle with PSP, and for everyone else affected by PSP.  “This is a lifelong dream for each of us,” said Susan, “and we know, having seen the impacts of a disease like PSP, that life and the plans we make can change quickly.”

Dickie's Ride for PSP started with a goal of $25,000, but a month from the start of the ride easily exceeded that, and Nico managed to raise not only awareness of PSP, but an incredible $43,000 for the cause.
