Ask the Expert: Staying Safe in the Hospital

Planned or unplanned hospital stays can be challenging, and even dangerous, for people with PSP, CBD and MSA and the right preparation can make a big difference. We will discuss strategies to prevent hospitalization and provide tips for care partners to support safety, communication and well-being during a hospital stay.
SPEAKER:
Dr. Joyce Lee completed her degrees in Pharmacy and Doctor of Medicine at the University of Toronto, and a Care of the Elderly fellowship at McGill University. Combining her training in Movement Disorders under Dr. Janis Miyasaki with her Geriatrics and Pharmacy expertise, she founded and led the first Geriatric Parkinson’s Program in Canada at North York General Hospital in Toronto. In 2022, she joined the Parkinson’s and Movement Disorders Program at the University of Alberta, where she is serving as the Co-Director of the Parkinson’s Foundation Center of Excellence, and leads the Geriatric Parkinson's Assessment Program. She is passionate about improving the care for patients with PD and Parkinsonism and their caregivers through education of health care providers, and through evidence-based integrative wellness programming.
