What is PSP?

Outreach & Education Conferences

CurePSP sponsors approximately eight Outreach & Education conferences each year. A conference provides attendees the opportunity to learn about progressive supranuclear palsy and corticobasal degeneration, and ways to manage the difficult challenges presented by the diseases. Speakers presenting at these educational meetings typically include a physician who is a movement disorders specialist, a physical therapist, a speech and language pathologist, an occupational therapist and a nutritionist. Each speaker gives a twenty to thirty minute presentation followed by a fifteen minute question and answer session. A refreshment break is provided in the afternoon with time allotted for PSP families to meet and mingle.

In addition to the educational facts learned during the session, persons diagnosed with PSP and their caregivers and families learn that they are not alone. Attendees leave the meeting having forged new friendships in the PSP community, and with the reinforced support of CurePSP’s commitment to the care of the PSP patient and their caregivers.
