Can memories uplift mood? Does better mood equate to better quality of life?
DThera is hoping to find out if simple technology, loaded with family stories, voices and memories can improve quality of life.
CurePSP is pleased to announce our collaboration with DThera, a company that is utilizing technology toward the goal of improving the quality of life of patients affected by various diseases that affect memory and cognition.
They will be conducting a pilot study of 10 people with PSP and we are helping them recruit patients and their carepartners. People who are selected to participate will be provided with a tablet to use and they will also be provided training by DThera staff.
If you are interested in participating, please contact Martyn Gross at email@example.com.
People will be chosen for this study on a first come, first served basis.
Reminiscence Therapy (RT) involves discussing and sharing memories, reviewing and evaluating those memories, and re-capturing the emotions and feelings that are an integral part of those memories. ReminX uses photos, music and voiceover from loved ones to create digital Reminiscence Therapy that reduced stress and anxiety in a study at the University of California San Diego. We are setting up a study through CurePSP to see how Reminiscence Therapy may increase the quality of life of PSP patients, and to see if it may even provide as yet unknown cognitive benefits.
ReminX provides Reminiscence Therapy through a smartphone app that allows families to upload photos of a patient’s past as well as current loved ones. A patient uses a tablet that only plays stories uploaded by their family, with no confusing buttons or menus. Once their tablet is picked up from its charging cradle, stories begin. Once the tablet is placed back in the charging cradle, the screen simply cycles through uploaded photos. It’s a simple process that could lead to an increase in Quality of Life for patients.
ReminX is partnering with CurePSP to see if this innovative technology can make a difference in your loved one’s life.
