Research Opportunities

Interested in participating in research? See below to learn about current and future research opportunities for people with PSP, CBD and MSA.

Fox Trial Finder

The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research hosts an interactive module to find active clinical trials by diagnosis, including PSP, CBD and MSA.

Clinical Trials

A clinical trial is a research study that tests a new treatment, test method or drug to make sure it is safe and effective. Clinical trials are necessary for developing new ways of managing or treating diseases and how to more easily diagnose them. More information about each trial can be found on ClinicalTrials.gov.

Click here to see Biogen’s resource “Learning About Clinical Trials.

CurePSP’s role in clinical trials is to help people living with PSP, CBD or MSA understand what research opportunities are available.

Please note that CurePSP is not involved in clinical trial enrollment or administration. For questions about eligibility, enrollment, locations, timelines or study updates, please contact the study team directly, using the information provided on ClinicalTrials.gov.

The PSP Trial Platform (PTP) is a nationwide initiative to accelerate the development of treatments for Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP). The study will test multiple therapies at once in people with mild to moderate PSP, using an efficient trial model to speed up results and reduce costs. Participants may also join a 12-month open-label extension. All activities are free of charge.

Please note: The PTP is not yet accepting enrollees. To receive updates on enrollment status, sign up for email alerts here.

Novartis is recruiting for a Phase 3 trial evaluating the efficacy and safety of the investigational drug NIO752 in individuals with progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP). Eligibility guidelines are available on ClinicalTrials.gov, and study locations will continue to be added in the coming months. Questions about the trial can be sent to novartis.email@novartis.com https://clinicaltrials.gov/study/NCT07498426

Perceptive is seeking participants between 40 and 80 years of age with a probable diagnosis of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy for an imaging study. The study focuses on 4R-tau PET tracers, special imaging agents that may help detect changes in the brain linked to PSP. The study, based in New Haven, CT, will include up to 3 visits and additional follow-up calls. Participants will receive a stipend up to $2,400 plus travel, meals, and accommodation. To participate, contact them at (203)401-4300 or by email at  learnmore@perceptive.com.

The ALLFTD study is recruiting people with PSP and CBD. The overall goal of ALLFTD is to prepare for future treatment trials by building a cohort of patients at expert centers who can be available for trials, collecting data on cognitive and behavioral assessments, imaging, blood and cerebral spinal fluid, and sharing data, images, and samples from participants with other researchers to further our knowledge of FTD. ALLFTD has two arms of the study: A Longitudinal Arm and a Biofluid Focused Arm. All visits include a participant and their study partner. Those in the Biofluid Arm will take part in the study during one of their clinical visits.

Xing Imaging is seeking participants between 45 to 85 years of age with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy or Corticobasal Syndrome for an imaging study looking at abnormal Tau protein in the brain using the new NeuroEXPLORER camera. They are recruiting participants between 45 to 85 years of age diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy or Corticobasal Syndrome. The study, based in New Haven, CT, will include up to 3 visits with specialized brain scans using an investigational imaging agent. To participate, contact them at (475) 318-8250 or info_XI001@xingimaging.com.

CurePSP Genetics Program

The CurePSP Genetics Program is a nationwide initiative to increase our understanding of the genetic causes of PSP, CBS and MSA. The study will collect DNA from the comfort of your home and send the sample to the NIH for genetic testing. If a significant genetic variant is found, you have the option to receive the results from a genetic counselor. All activities are free of charge.

CurePSP Brain Tissue Donation Program

Brain donations are a precious gift for science, establishing a long-term legacy of scientific progress that otherwise would not be possible. Brain tissue donated through this program is carefully studied by researchers working hard to understand human neurobiology and the causes of neurodegeneration. Brain donations have led, and will lead to breakthroughs in science, the development of treatments and ultimately, cures for PSP, CBD, MSA and related diseases.

Watch our Ask the Expert: Understanding Brain Donation for Neurodegenerative Diseases webinar.

The FTD Disorders Registry

The Registry is an online database to collect information from those affected by all types of prime of life brain diseases, such as PSP, CBD, and related. Persons diagnosed, (current/former) caregivers, family, and friends can join. As a member of the Registry, you can help us advance the science and move faster toward finding treatments and cures.
