Hope as Big as Texas is big fun with a mission and heart even bigger than the State of Texas!

Our mission with Hope as Big as Texas event is to raise awareness and support for families with in-home Respite Care provided through grants to families impacted by progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), corticobasal degeneration (CBD), and multiple system atrophy (MSA).

Through the generous donation of Larry Levien in honor of his wife Cherie, who was diagnosed with PSP, a disease that directly affected her and impacted the whole family during the course of the disease, the Cherie Levien Quality of Life Fund was launched in 2017 and has provided support through professional caregiving services to 83 families. We are just getting started, but we need your help! Each grant awarded provides $1500 for in-home care services through Griswold Home Care or an alternative home care agency if Griswold is not available in the family’s local area.

Bringing Respite Care to the Home of those in Need

Your support will provide respite for caregivers of patients suffering from prime of life neurodegenerative diseases, including PSP, CBD, and MSA. Research shows that even temporary or intermittent relief of caregiving demands can reduce stress and improve the quality of life for caregivers and the person suffering from the disease. The Cherie Levien Quality of Life Fund currently provides grants for up to 40 families each year. With the Hope as Big as Texas event, our goal is to raise funds to support ten additional families each year, for a total of 50 families annually. The critical importance of these services and the essential role of Respite Care has never been more evident nor greater than now as we have seen during the pandemic. Your support will help ensure that CurePSP can continue providing grants to families with professional caregiving services for the person diagnosed and respite for the caregiver. This is something that can be done in the here-and-now by reducing stress and improving the quality of life for families struggling with these terrible diseases, even as we search for a cure.
